They started arriving the morning of June 24, many hours before the Northern Illinois mobile food bank truck was scheduled to arrive at the Salvation Army church on Main Street.

County board members Bill Pysson and Cathy Ward were there, on either side of the truck, handing out frozen dinners and produce. Working with Pysson was Kim Helnore, husband of Belvidere Township Assessor Diann Helnore.

“It’s wonderful that we’re able to help out,” Ward said. “Altogether it was a very nice project.”

Boone County Journal Editorial: The Power of Appointment

Bill is the one member of the Boone County Board who questioned the long list of appointments-- the lack of advanced notice of the appointments and failure to provide copies of the candidates’ letter of appointment request and resume.  Mr. Freeman (R, District 3) also voted against the appointments even though Mr. Freeman was the nominee for the County Board’s representative to the Community Building Board.

Restating status of the mulch pile/fire

The States Attorney will be in court on August 1, 2013 for a hearing on the various issues.  It appears that all the mulch is gone.

June 19, 2013 County Board Meeting

Everything appears very routine.  No appointments have at this point be listed.  There may be some debate when Mike Schultz, District Three County Board Representative, resigns (it should occur at this month’s meeting) and his appointment is suggested by Mr. Walberg.

One item of special importance will be the problems with the city-county landfill off of  Route 76 & Squaw Prairie. See:  http://www.boarddocs.com/il/boone/Board.nsf/files/98LPKS545579/$file/Scope%20of%20Work%20for%20IEPA%20meeting%20-TRC.pdf

The county and Illinois EPA will meet in July and the county will attempt to receive IEPA’s approval to drill a few additional test wells and see if the old wells are the problem for the Chromium problem.
