PAST EVENTS Which I Attended:
Saturday, June 23--Boone County Farm Bureau Foundation’s Dairy Breakfast in Garden Prairie. This is an annual event and fundraiser for the farm bureau many local granges and 4H clubs were present. To read more about the event go the Belvidere Republican at: http://www.belvideredailyrepublican.net/news/annual-county-farm-bureau-dairy-breakfast-a-big-success/
Sunday, June 24—Blaine Folk Music Festival (3rd annual of the renewed festival). Many wonderful performers; very cheap admission $6 Adult $3 Seniors. Perhaps there will be a future “big name” star. Perhaps Ms. Hopkins shown in the RR Star photo. Let’s hope she does not change her name so we all remember her and her big start at Blaine.
Saturday, June 30—Candlewick Lake’s Fourth of July Parade. The parade route was almost half of the length of Candlewick Drive—from Savannah Oaks Golf course to the Lake Meeting House. It was hot and at times difficult to walk at the pace which the floats moved. Lots and lots of candy and there were no kids complaining about the heat.
Sunday, July 1—Belvidere’s Heritage Days. A worship service at the Community Building in the morning and a parade at 4:00. The heat was equal to Saturday’s, The waking pace at the parade was a little slower and crowds very large. Oh yes—we did not run out of candy at either parade.
